December 6th is Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday is a nationwide initiative set up to support all kinds of small businesses in the all-important run-up to Christmas. By promoting small businesses – retailers, service businesses and.. well, just about anything, the scheme hopes to give local economies a boost and remind people of the wealth of businesses on their doorstep.
Conveniently, this year, it falls on the same day as the West Hampstead Christmas market, so December 6th will be the perfect place for locals to do their festive shopping.
It’s very simple to get involved. Go to the Small Business Saturday website, and download the free pack; there a ton of supporting material including posters for shop windows and logos and banners for use on websites. What you do on the day itself is up to you – maybe you want to run a special offer, or maybe you just want to put the poster up. Either way, get involved and lets give our local shopping streets a real push this year.
If your business is active on social media, there are also resources to support you online. Encourage your customers to spread the word using the #SmallBizSatUK hashtag, or tell the people at @SmallBizSatUK all about your plans for the day so that they can give you a shout out on Facebook and Twitter too.
Already, 100 businesses across the country have been selected as Small Business Saturday champions, and one of them is right here. Natalie Leon’s Passionate About Vintage shop on Mill Lane was chosen earlier in the year and she’s having a special Christmas shopping event in store on the day.
